German developer Nukklear announced its partnership with Funcom for the upcoming Dune multiplayer survival video game. It will also be taking on a development role.

The Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure awarded Nukklear a grant of 1.6 million euros to help with its development and production.

This German developer previously supported games like Destroy All Humans! Everspace and was also involved in the development of the recently published THQ Nordic-published Comanche reboot.

Funcom was a great source of information and we are grateful for the opportunity to bring Dune to a wider audience. While we’ve collaborated on many projects in the past, Dune is the largest yet,”, Kirk Lenke (Nukklear CEO).

“Dune open-world survival game is one of the most challenging projects Funcom has ever undertaken. It is essential to have reliable and skilled partners. We have that with NUCLEAR. We have benefited especially from their expertise in vehicular-based gameplay, but I also know them as highly skilled, creative game developers in general,”, added Rui Casais (Funcom CEO).

Funcom purchased developer The Outsiders earlier in June and announced plans for a new studio to be opened in Bucharest (Romania) in an effort to increase its Dune multiplayer survival game’s resources.

We do not know much about the title, except that it was inspired by Conan Exiles. The title’s scope was expanded by Tencent, a Chinese investment.
