ASUS Announces ROG Flow X13 Gaming Notebook And XG Mobile External Graphics Docking Station

ASUS released the ROG Flow X13 convertible notebook as a “2-in-1” during CES 2021. It was also available in Zephyrus 15 SE and Strix Scar15/17 series. ASUS also released a support peripheral for ROG Flow X13: the ROG XG mobile external graphics docking station featuring the highest optional GeForce RTX3080.

Even though it can hold an external graphics card with the highest RTX3080 level, XG Mobile only 6% is equivalent to a traditional eGPU-15.5×20.8×2.9cm and weighs only 1kg (2.2 lb).

The ROG XG Station was the last similar product that released in 2007. XG Mobile has the option to have a built in RTX 3080 graphic card, with a frequency of 1810 MHz and power consumption of 150W. It also supports ROG Boost. XG Mobile uses a vapour chamber (Vapor Chamber), heat dissipation system that increases the contact area by 54%, in comparison to traditional heat pipes.

ROG Flow X13 is able to make full use the PCIe 3.0 x8 bandwidth (63Gbps) by connecting directly to the CPU via a customized eGPU extension port. The cable length has been extended to 41 cm. The pure Thunderbolt 4 expansion scheme also makes the port possible to incorporate 10Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 2 bandwidth.

XG Mobile offers a variety of expansion ports. These include four 10Gbps USB Type A 3.2 Gen 1 readers, Gigabit Ethernet and DisplayPort 1.4 + HDMI 2.0a output. XG Mobile also includes a power adapter that can supply up to 280W for ROG Flow X13 laptops or eGPUs.

The processor for the Supernova ROG Flow X13 version is AMD Ryzen R9-6080HS. It can also be supplemented with up to 32GB LPDDR4x-44266 memory and a 1TB PCIe SSD.

The notebook can still function normally even if the eGPU has been unplugged. The GeForce GTX 1650 can achieve a frequency of 1255 MHz and 35W power in acceleration mode. ROG Flow X13 has a 13.4 inch screen (aspect ratio 16 to10) and optional 4K 60Hz, 1080p 120Hz IPS panels.

The screens have been certified by Pantone. They are also protected with scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla glass. The battery life can last up to 10 hours. ROG Flow X13 is heat dissipative and uses a Thermal Grizzly liquid metallic compound, similar to ROG Zephyrus Duo 15SE.

Two heat pipes are capable of quickly dissipating the heat generated from the GPU, CPU, and VRM power supplies modules. The heat dissipation module also has a dust-proof air conduit.

ROG Flow X13 convertible + XG Mobile External Graphics Docking Kit is now available for pre-order at ASUS official site. The price is 2999.99 US Dollars (about 19360 RMB).
