Max Payne
Max Payne is a third-person shooter video game that was developed by Remedy Entertainment. It was published by Gathering of Developers in July 2001 for Microsoft Windows. The majority of the game’s gameplay involves gunfights based on bullet time.
The levels are fairly straightforward with occasional platforming and puzzle-solving. As Max talks to himself, the player can help him decide what his next steps should become. This is how the game’s storyline progresses. Many levels of the game involve Payne’s drug-related nightmares and surrealistic nightmares. Initially, the weapon of the player is a semiautomatic pistol.
As the game progresses other weapons are available, such as melee and hand-thrown. Dual-wielding is possible for some weapons. Max can get painkillers to regain his health. These are available throughout the levels. Pre-scripted commands are what drive the game’s AI. Most enemies’ behaviour (such as retreating from the player or taking cover) is pre-scripted. Bullet time, which is a type of slow-motion, is the core of Max Payne’s game. When triggered, the time passes so slowly that bullets can be clearly seen.
This allows Max to make special moves. Payne’s movement is slowed but the player can still position the aiming device and react immediately, giving him an advantage over his enemies. Sometimes, the viewpoint will switch to a third-person view of a falling body when an enemy character is killed. The camera can also follow the trajectory of a bullet from a sniper rifle.
