Qualcomm appears to be ready to compete with Samsung by releasing state-of the-art single-chip smartwatches.
A promotional video was released by the company indicating that such an SoC would soon be available. Although there are no details, there were earlier indications that the new solutions would be known as Snapdragon Wear 5100+ and 5100+.
They should be made according to the 5nm process technology. This will improve energy efficiency. Compared to this, Samsung’s Exynos W920 platform uses a 5nm process, while the Snapdragon Wear 4100 line uses a 12nm process. Qualcomm will switch to 5 nm from 12 nm immediately.
Also, data were available earlier on the configuration of the SoCs: four Cortex A53 cores and Adreno 703 GPU.
