Ed Boon and his talented team of developers have done something so simple and obvious, one can’t help but wonder why it hasn’t been done before. Let’s begin with the strangeness. There doesn’t appear to be one source for this weirdness, such as Norse mythology. Mortal Kombat seems to have drawn from a mix of Asian martial arts, general European bestiaries, and early 1970s cartoons. Although the mix can sometimes be difficult on the eyes, Shaolin Monks is funny and, in its own way, absurd.

I started the cooperative game with Liu Kang because I liked his intuitive fighting skills. But, when I began the single-player game, Kung Lau was my choice and I grew to love his style more than Liu Kang’s. There are a few ways to play this one- or two-player game.
The Versus, the Ko-op, and the single-player games are available. You can also get an unlockable demo version of The Suffering – Ties That Bind and an unlocked, full-featured Mortal Kombat II, all because Midway is so generous.
If you are playing a single-player game, it is impossible for another player to jump in. To play a coop game, you will need to use Koo-op mode.
This allows you to only play two players and you cannot let the other person leave. You can play in any mode you like, which is a good thing. It’s easier to play the single-player game than the co-op. However, halfway through the game, the difficulty increases, and begins to test your “skills.” I said this intentionally because they aren’t necessarily what you need to win this game.
